Ida Mboji Senegalese politician, deputy minister and cabinet minister, and vice-president of the Senegalese National Assembly.

During McKisal’s first government (21 April 2004 to 23 November 2006), she was Minister for Women, Family and Social Development. She also served in Cabinet during Macky Sall’s second government (23 November 2006 to 19 June 2007), this time in a larger cabinet as Minister for Women, Family, Social Development and Women’s Entrepreneurship.
To the disappointment of her supporters, she did not remain in the government of Cheikh Hadjibou Soumaré, who appointed Awa Ndiaye to the post in June 2007.
Mbodj returned to the political arena in 2011 and was most recently appointed as Minister of State and Minister of Family and Women’s Organizations in the cabinet of current President Abdoulaye Wade’s government. She supports Abdoulaye Wade’s efforts to amend the constitution to allow him to stay in office. Both supporters and opponents of Wade organized mass protests in the summer of 2011.
